Esoteric completed its first season on Netflix and immediately received an order for a second season (and likely more to come). But how well has the series performed on Netflix, and how far has it performed outside of Netflix?
Before we dive into the stats, you probably already know that the series is critically performing well. It still holds a 100% reviews score on RottenTomatoes and an audience score of 98%. On IMDb, the series is 9.4 / 10. This makes it one of Netflix’s best critically-acclaimed titles of 2021, and one of its all-time best.
Top 10 Netflix Data For Arcane
We don’t quite have the full picture of the first 10 data yet so far, so this is definitely a work in progress.
The show has made it to the top 10 on television and overall in over 52 countries, reaching number one in many of them.
The United States has been one of the weakest regions for Esoteric it should be noted. The series peaked on Netflix US at number 2 before quickly falling back.

arcane the world’s main rivals in the top 10 during its exit window were Narcos: Mexico, Squid game, and Hell.
As we mentioned in our article when Esoteric first took the throne of Squid game (who had dominated the top 10 for almost two months). The regions that see the series working the best are often those with the most player base or research interest in the game, such as Eastern Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
As of November 24, 2021, the series is still in the top 60 worldwide and ranks second among TV series with 585 points.
Viewing Hourly Data for Arcane
Since the arrival of Esoteric, Netflix has released its brand new top 10 site which not only gives us a sneak peek at the top 10 we’re talking about above, but also gives us actual viewing metrics in the form of hours of viewing a particular title. .
As of November 25, 2021, the show had totaled 72,590,000 hours of viewing worldwide.

IMDb MovieMeter data for Arcane
We love the IMDb data here on Advance Guide. After all, IMDb is the largest movie database on the planet, attracting half a billion visits per month according to SimilarWeb.
The MovieMeter is updated every Monday and is a “popularity measure” and “based on pageviews of pages linked to a movie” or in this case, a series.
Between October 31 and November 7, the series occupied number 362 on the charts. The following week, November 7-14, it skyrocketed to the third-biggest title on the platform (only Red Notice and Spider-Man: No Path Home beat him).
For the week the last three episodes launched, he was at the number 5 position behind Red Notice, Spider-Man: No Path Home, Shang-Chi and the ten rings, and that of Amazon The wheel of time.
We expect the show to now slowly drop in the pecking order over time, but where will its eventual bottom be? Time will tell us.
Google Trends data
The first indications are that the interest in both League of Legends and Esoteric has grown since its release on Netflix.
While interest in League of Legends has peaked for love over the past 12 months, zooming out of global interest over the past 5 years reveals that interest is roughly the same as in October 2019 and November 2017.
Has Arcane increased the number of League of Legends players?
One data point we can look at is League of Legends’ player population, but that doesn’t currently suggest a large influx of new players.
According to ActivePlayer.io, League of Legends average monthly gamers have roughly stayed in line with previous months and have yet to experience a surge in new user numbers.
It should be noted that on November 1, Riot Games celebrated 180 million players through its multiple franchises.
Does Arcane plead for weekly episodes?
Arcane is one of the very few Netflix shows that has aired globally on Netflix on a weekly basis. It’s not quite one episode per week like all mainstream media, but it’s bundles of 3 at a time over a three week period. Netflix only uses the format when necessary (international distribution like K-dramas) or mainly with reality TV.
