Neetu Kapoor often shares never-before-heard anecdotes about late husband Rishi Kapoor and their marriage. In an Instagram post, the veteran actor shared a photo of himself with Rishi Kapoor on Monday with an adorable caption, alluding to the late star’s unabashed publicly expressed opinions that would often bring him into controversy.
“This was me with a bird’s eye view of each time he spoke a rather ironic photo,” Neetu captioned the photo. Neetu and Rishi’s daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and son Ranbir Kapoor’s girlfriend Alia Bhatt commented on the photo. While Riddhima posted a series of hearts on the post, Alia wrote, “Love this,” accompanied by hearts and a smiley emoji. A few months ago, Neetu Kapoor opened up about Rishi Kapoor when she guested on the reality show The Indian Idol season 12.
Neetu had said the two ended their relationship while shooting the song “Jeevan Ke Har Mod Pe” from the movie Jhootha Kahin Ka. “In the song we dance and romanticize, but in real life we were apart. I used to cry in the makeup room,” said the Kabhie Kabhie actor, adding that the situation was so bad that her doctor had to visit her. “I was injected, but as soon as the shot was done, we were back on the sets as if nothing had happened.”
Neetu went on to talk about another incident of their tiff. She told how even during the recording of the song “Parda Hai Parda” by Amar Akbar Anthony, the couple had fought and did not speak to each other. She said that when she had to give him a rose at the end of the song, she really wanted to hit him with the flower, but the shot had to be romantic.
Neetu and Rishi married in 1980. Rishi died in 2020 after a two-year battle with cancer.
