R Madhavan writes romantic note for wife on wedding anniversary: ’Keeps me in awe all these years’

R Madhavan gushed about his wife Sarita Birje on Sunday as the couple celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary. Madhavan shared a beautiful selfie with his partner and wrote on Instagram how he is still in awe of her even after more than two decades of their marriage. “It has kept me in awe and infatuation all these years. Happy Birthday Pondati…to many more to come.”

Madhavan and Sarita, who tied the knot in 1999, are parents of son Vedaant. A few years ago, Madhavan had told me frankly that it was Sarita who asked him on a date what the beginning of their relationship was. “Sarita was my student and one day she asked me out. I was a black man and thought it was an opportunity. I didn’t know if I would ever get married, so I jumped at the chance and married her,” Madhavan said in 2016 on the TV show Yaar Mera Superstar.

Recently Madhavan praised Sarita for teaching underprivileged children virtually. The actor took to Instagram to share a video of Sarita taking a class, writing that he felt incompetent in front of his wife. “If your wife is teaching poor children all over the country, and you feel completely incompetent and useless,” Madhavan is heard in the video.

On the work front, the actor will next be seen in the biopic Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. Besides playing the lead role in the film, Madhavan has also directed it. The film is based on the life of Nambi Narayanan, a former rocket scientist with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), who was falsely accused of espionage and arrested in 1994.
