The Family Man 2: Samantha Akkineni jumps off a building and does her own stunts in BTS video

Samantha Akkineni comes to love her role as Raji in the hit series The Family Man 2 which marked her debut not only in the OTT space and Bollywood but also in the action genre. For the first time in her career, Samantha can be seen performing action scenes all by herself. On Sunday, Samantha shared two clips on her Instagram account. While one of the videos showed her performing the on-screen action scene, the other clip showed her practicing her action choreography.

Samantha thanked action choreographer Yannick Ben for his support. She wrote: “A special special thanks to my person @yannickben 🤗🙌 for training me to do all my own stunts (yes all of them)… for pushing me to give it my all, even if every part of my body hurt (thanks for the pain meds by the way) I’m really scared of heights but I only jumped off that building because I knew you had my back.. lots of love @yannickben

Last week, after the show premiered on Amazon Prime Video, Samantha said that the role of Raji will always be special to her.

She went on to elaborate on the suffering of Eelam Tamils and the investigation into playing Raji in The Family Man season 2.

“When @rajanddk approached me to do the character, I was aware that portraying Raji’s character required sensitivity and balance. The creative team shared documentaries about the Tamil struggle, including stories about women in the Eelam War. When I saw those documentaries, I was stunned and shocked by the trouble and unspeakable grief that the Tamils of Eelam went through over a long period of time. It struck me that the aforementioned documentaries had only been viewed a few thousand times and then it occurred to me how the world looked away for a moment when tens of thousands of people from Eelam lost their lives. And more lakhs lost their livelihood and their homes. “Countless many* continue to live in distant lands with the wounds of the civil war still fresh in their hearts and minds,” she wrote.

She concluded her post by saying she wants her character to be “a grim, much-needed reminder for us, more than ever before, to come together as people to fight hate, oppression and greed. If we don’t, we will. countless others are denied their identity, freedom and their right to self-determination.”

Earlier in an interview with, The Family Man 2 makers Raj and DK talked about how risky the role was for Samantha.

“Samantha’s choice to do The Family Man 2 is extremely risky, especially considering how passionately her fans follow her work. There are already few reactions that say: ‘What have you done with our beautiful Samantha?’ I said she’s still beautiful, just in a different role. Someone like her playing this role is very risky. It’s brave to say, ‘I’m going to let go of all the things that people see in me, in my character, and I’m going to embrace a very different, contrasting character and try my best with it,’ Raj Nidimoru of Raj and DK said.

The Family Man, which premiered on June 4, also stars Manoj Bajpayee and Sharib Hashmi.
