Andy Muschietti, the director of the highly anticipated DC movie The Flash, has shared an image teasing the presence of Michael Keaton’s Batman in the film.
He shared a close-up of the Bat symbol on the chest of Keaton’s batsuit, which is stained with a few drops of what appears to be blood. He posted the cryptic photo on his Instagram handle without any caption.
Michael Keaton, who played the iconic DC superhero in Tim Burton’s Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992), returns to don the cape and hood in The Flash.
The Flash, the first solo film about Ezra Miller’s speedster superhero Barry Allen, is currently being shot in the UK. It also brings back Ben Affleck’s Batman.
Sasha Calle will play the role of Supergirl. Kiersey Clemons will play the role of Barry Allen’s love interest Iris West. Maribel Verdú and Ron Livingston play the parents of Barry, Nora and Henry Allen, respectively.
Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Rudy Mancuso are cast in unnamed roles.
Andy Muschietti is best known for the It-horror film duology. Christina Hodson, who wrote Birds of Prey and Bumblebee, wrote the film.
So far, the details about the film’s plot are vague, but we do know that it will be inspired by the Flashpoint storyline in comics. In it, Barry goes back in time to undo the death of his mother, but this has unexpected consequences. The world Barry wakes up in has changed on a fundamental level.
The film is expected to deal with the multiverse to accommodate two different Caped Crusaders and possibly other DC characters.
The Flash is scheduled for November 4, 2022.
